I’m a Lucky B***h! (and you are too!) – meeting Denise Duffield Thomas

So… I don’t often use profanity in my posts, much less in the title but today’s post is entirely inspired by the fabulous Denise Duffield Thomas who I had the pleasure of hearing speak in person for the first time, last month.

For a girl who doesn’t often buy tickets waaaaay in advance, I have to admit that this event was an exception for me. From the minute I saw it advertised I was sharing the links with the ladies in my women’s mastermind group – and was quick to pick up by own ticket. Let me explain why…

A bit of background for you:

Denise Duffield-Thomas helps women get over their money blocks and is a money mindset mentor for the new wave of online female entrepreneurs. Yes… you can see why she appeals already right? I consider myself to be an entrepreneur-in-training (early days yet but I’m thrilled you’re joining me on the journey!). While I haven’t yet read   “Lucky Bitch”, her first book… I absolutely loved “Get Rich, Lucky Bitch” and when I saw that Denise was bringing her event of the same name to London, I knew I had to be there.

So… on Wednesday 18 February I found myself in a room of 200+ women (Lucky Bs) and one very brave man and can hand on heart say that the event didn’t disappoint. Denise was as down to earth and hilarious as I hoped she’d be  with the sorts of observations and money manifesting tips that she shares in her book… and the atmosphere in the room was indescribable. There’s something so powerful about being in a room of like-minded people who are dedicated to creating positive change. The place was buzzing… and so was I.

Get Rich Lucky Bitch Live

So – while I can’t replicate that moment here, these are 3 (of many) highlights of the event:

  • The repetition of the “I am enough” mantra. Denise reminded us about this at numerous points during the 2-hour evening event – and it was a solid kick in the b*** to reiterate that it’s about starting where you are. It’s not about waiting until we are richer, more experienced, thinner, wealthier, better-known or anything like that… it’s about starting here and now. If that resonates with you the way it did with me I encourage you to say it out loud too. Whatever it is you are looking to achieve right now remember… “I am enough.”

  • The “How men sell vs how women sell skit”: I cannot even begin to describe how belly-achingly funny this was. Why? Because it was so true. Denise, aided by her guest star (the one man in the room… the very cool hubby of one of the Lucky Bs attendance) acted out some stereotypical differences between how men and women sell their services. If she posts the video online – I’ll share it here. It really was great.

  • The vibe of the whole event: As I mentioned, the power of having all of these like-minded, positive entrepreneurial women in the room, all there to see Denise was awesome. Not only was there a sense of abundant support in the room, but it truly felt like my #achievemoretogether mantra was being realised there and then. (In fact – I really do feel inspired to host my first live event soon. Not sure this is an immediate priority but I am keen to do a small event where participants can feel similarly empowered and supported… so watch this space!). Within 48 hours of the event, I had come across a fab web designer (my partner in creating this awesome new site you’re now on – if visiting after 29 April 2015!) and a brilliant photographer, who’ll be taking pics for my new website. Synergies everywhere… and it felt great.

I’ll be dipping into Get Rich Lucky Bitch again soon but if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of checking it out – you can grab your copy here.

… and remember “I am enough!”
